Missed any of the events this year--we've got the pics to keep you in the loop! We kept with the bimonthly dinners, but added bimonthly movie nights, more Balcony Bashes than ever before, an Ice Skating trip, and even a trip to Pie Lab in Northport (with the help of REL grad, Melanie Williams). Thanks to the Department and the RSSA for making these events possible! We had great turnouts at all the events, and we look forward to seeing you guys 'round the balcony next year!

Dr. Monica Miller, Assistant Professor of Africana Studies and Religious Studies at Lehigh University, delivered the Inaugural Day Lecture. Before the lecture, our own Dr. Merinda Simmons sat down with Dr. Miller to discuss her ongoing works in the field as well as her approach to the academic study of religion.

Dr. Richard King, a professor of Buddhist and Asian Studies at the University of Kent, UK, was the Department's 12th Annual Aronov Lecturer, and presented his "From Mysticism to Spirituality: Colonial Legacies and the Reformulation of 'the Mystic East'" in March 2014.

The Inaugural Day Lecture 2013: Dr. Monica Miller
In the 2012-13 academic year, the family of Zachary Daniel Day established an annual lectureship in the Department of Religious Studies to honor his memory. In the fall of 2013, the Department invited Dr. Monica R. Miller (Lehigh University) to present the inaugural Day Lecture, "'Picasso Baby!': Art and the Making of New Black Gods in Hip Hop."
