The Day Lecture is one of two annual lecture series hosted by the Dept. of Religious Studies. I’ve pulled the following excerpts from the REL website:

In the 2012-13 academic year, the family of Zachary Daniel Day established an annual lectureship in the Department of Religious Studies to honor his memory. … Given Zach’s own interest in the intersection of religion with music, art, videos, gaming, and literature, this annual lecture will be devoted to the study of religion and popular culture.

Dr. Monica Miller, Assistant Professor of Africana Studies and Religious Studies at Lehigh University, delivered the Inaugural Day Lecture. Before the lecture, our own Dr. Merinda Simmons sat down with Dr. Miller to discuss her ongoing works in the field as well as her approach to the academic study of religion.

In the fall of 2013, the Department invited Dr. Monica R. Miller (Lehigh University) to present the inaugural Day Lecture, "'Picasso Baby!': Art and the Making of New Black Gods in Hip Hop."
